Double Bay Custom Concrete Indoor and Outdoor Lap Pool and Feature Spa
Cleverly designed, carefully engineered and smartly constructed, this innovative 18m pool is literally part of the home. It’s an indoor and also outdoor lap pool, which is designed to both enhance the alfresco area and be a feature of the living area. The indoor part of the pool comes complete with artworks and special lighting on the wall.
As the house was a new build, the pool was formed and poured prior to the house being built, with materials craned down due to the challenging access. In addition, all finishing materials for the pool were carried in through the house. And with all works – pool, house, landscaping – being carried out concurrently, it was essential for builders and other contractors to work closely together and ensure a seamless process.
The pool has a maximum depth of 1.4m, and includes a wet edge with balance tank featuring grey/black river pebbles. Ensuring consistency with the home’s exterior colour, grey stone in 300mm x 600mm pieces was used for the coping. A separate spa, which is set into the stone, is fully tiled, whilst the pool has a light blue interior.
Seven flush-mounted Aquaquip pool lights have been installed to enable use of the pool during the darker hours, in addition to creating a stunning ambience. Additionally, gas heating ensures the swimming season can be extended.
